A Day of Two Halves

After mammoth walking sessions the last few days we decided to give our feet a rest and spend the day relaxing at the hotel. Luckily the sun was shining so we took the opportunity to sit outside on the patio and read. Something I don’t do enough of back home as I am always so busy. I also embraced the sunshine by getting the legs out.

Before lunch we went for a swim and had a very hot session in the jacuzzi. Oh how I wish I had bought one of my tummy control swimsuits from Next that are perfect for disguising a less than flat tummy. I had to make do with the one and only swimsuit I packed which although lovely made me feel a little self conscious because I am not in particularly good shape at the moment.

This is what I wish I had packed. I have two, one pink and one black, both purchased a couple of years ago. They are such good value for money and they really do flatten the tummy area.

I bought it at earlier in the year. I love everything about this swimsuit. The colour, the low back, the detail on the front. I will be wearing it again in the future and will feel more confident once I am back in the gym.

After a late lunch we headed to the lounge for a coffee and make use of the wifi. It is a really annoying that in this day and age hotels still don’t offer free wifi in rooms.

After a quick social media catch up it was back to the room for a hot shower and an hour spent getting dressed up for our night out at the Marina. Because it is a little chilly here in the evenings I decided on another dress and jeans combo. As you can see this shift dress is another that is perfect for hiding holiday excesses.

Gone are the days I can wear figure hugging clothes. Something that I have had to accept over the last couple of years. My body has changed Post-Menopause and as I creep towards 50 I need to work harder to keep everything toned.

Anyway it is still possible to look and feel good and I had a wonderful night out trying a few different bars although our favourite was The Brewery because of the vintage style decor and 1980’s dance mix music they were playing, which bought back a lot of memories from my teenage years.

We ended the night with a cocktail in a jazz bar overlooking the Marina. Tomorrow we are going to seek out a traditional Portuguese restaurant for sardines, Piri Piri chicken and a big glass of local Rose wine.
